BROWSER CONTROLS

Cookies and saved preferences

The local storage this site actually uses: the privacy dialog, the two keys it stores, how to change the decision and how to delete.

Updated

What this version uses

The site’s code writes no cookies - neither tracking nor operational ones - and embeds no advertising or analytics. There are no tracking categories to approve before reading, so the privacy dialog asks one question only: whether to keep your reading adjustments in the browser.

A cookie and local storage are different things

An HTTP cookie is data the browser attaches to requests sent to the server. Local storage (localStorage) lets code running in the browser keep data on your device; it is not sent to the server. The site uses local storage only, and only for the two keys below.

What is stored and why

  • atiqot.consent.v1 - your decision in the privacy dialog: keep reading adjustments or not. The key is written on any decision, a refusal included, so that the question is not shown again.
  • atiqot.preferences.v1 - the reading adjustments (text size, line spacing, contrast, underlined links, reduced motion). It is written only if you allowed saving, and removed when the decision changes to a refusal.
  • Neither key contains a name, email, tracking identifier, timestamp or list of pages you visited.
  • Their purpose is to apply your choices on the next page and on your next visit in the same browser at the same site address.

Your choice, at any time

The dialog appears on the first visit and stays until a decision is made. “Allow saving adjustments” stores the decision and the adjustments; “Do not save adjustments” stores the decision only; “Details and options” opens the full explanation with the checkbox. Closing the dialog without deciding stores nothing, and it appears again on the next page.

You can change the decision at any time: in the reading and privacy tools (the floating button) or through the “Privacy and storage settings” link at the bottom of every page. “Delete everything this site has stored” removes both keys, restores the default tools and shows the dialog again. You can also clear site data in your browser settings.

Retention and limits

The data has no expiry date in the code. It stays until deleted through the site or cleared by the browser. Different browsers and devices do not share the choices, and neither do http and https addresses or the address with and without www. In private browsing, or when the browser blocks storage, the choices apply to the current page only and the dialog says so; reading the site does not depend on storage.

Infrastructure services and other sites

The hosting or security provider in front of the site may, according to its own settings, use operational cookies of its own; they are not written by the site’s code, and which ones are active was not verified here, so no list is given. The site’s deletion tool removes the site’s own data only; it does not delete data held by an external provider or by a site you reached through a link. Questions can be sent to [email protected].

Reading, accessibility & privacy tools

Adjust the reading experience to suit you. These tools complement your browser and device accessibility settings. Changes apply to this page; they are kept for another visit only if you allowed that in the privacy dialog.
