Compared aspect: Two tools from the large islands: a polished stone axe from Crete versus a bronze spearhead from Cyprus, some four thousand years apart; neither record gives a findspot

Long bronze spearhead with a leaf-shaped blade, central ridge and hollow shaft socket
Photograph of the object Bronze spearhead from Cyprus, ca. 1200-1100 BCE; 35.4 cm long. A weapon shown for comparison, not the Newe Yam sword. The Met, 74.51.5309.The Metropolitan Museum of Art · 74.51.5309 · The Cesnola Collection, Purchased by subscription, 1874-76 · CC0 · Source · CC0 1.0

Bronze spearhead from Cyprus

A leaf-shaped blade with a pronounced midrib and a socket with two rivet holes. The record even describes the fabric impression left on the socket; what it lacks is a findspot.

Small dark serpentinite axehead with a broad smoothed cutting end
Photograph of the object Serpentinite axehead from Crete, fifth-fourth millennium BCE; 4.7 cm long. A regional comparison for stone working, not a Levantine find. The Met, 26.31.504.The Metropolitan Museum of Art · 26.31.504 · Bequest of Richard B. Seager, 1926 · CC0 · Source · CC0 1.0

Small serpentinite axe from Crete

A polished stone tool less than five centimetres long, which the record describes in one word: "celt". A Neolithic object from Crete that recalls how long the Neolithic is outside the Levant too.
