Figures on this card and their status

Number of coins
2,019 Checked · against the official abstract only; the full paper was not read

The figure appears in the article's official abstract on the publications site; the full paper and the catalogue supplement were not read.

Date of concealment
290s CE Contradictory within the source · against the official abstract only; the full paper was not read

The abstract itself uses two wordings, "early 290s" and "late 290s"; the site does not choose between them without reading the full paper.

A hoard as an assemblage, a catalogue as comparative evidence

The Qula hoard was found in a farmhouse in the hinterland of Roman Lydda. Its 2,019 third-century coins support discussion of deposition and changes in monetary circulation. 1.

The official abstract gives 2,019 coins and describes the deposition both as "the early 290s CE" and as "the late 290s CE"; that internal contradiction is marked on this card as a disputed figure and is not resolved here. 1.

A catalogue lets readers check which coins were included, how they were identified and how groups were compared. Distinguish a coin’s issue date, a hoard’s deposition date and the explanation for concealment: these are different questions, and the last may remain open.

The publication details and source links here refer to the main article, A Hoard of Antoniniani from Qula. The coin catalogue is a separate supplementary file; this record is not its reproduction. The coins-and-hoards guide adds tools for reading a hoard’s composition.
